September 4, 2018
Elizabeth, PA
The Warriors boys soccer team opened up their 2018 campaign with a convincing 7-2 win over South Allegheny. The Gladiators got on the board 4:25 into the game from a free kick at the top of the box. The Warriors responded quickly when a minute later Freshman Ethan Bowser found the equalizer off a feed from Andrew Smith. EF then grabbed the lead for good in the 9th minute when Andrew Smith scored off the assist by Kyle Ochap. The Warriors continued to control the play in the first half and would add a third in the 24minute when Andrew Smith converted from the penalty spot. Two more freshmen Donovan Woytsek (32nd min) and Max Salankiewicz (35th min) would score their first career goals before the break. The second half saw more of the same where EF controlled the game outshooting South Allegheny with 27 shots on goal to 9 and an endless in corners 6 to 2. The Warriors would add a 6th goal from the penalty spot by Ethan Bowser. South Allegheny would get one back in the 73rd minute off a PK. Donovan Woytsek would conclude the scoring with his 2nd of the night. Goalkeeper Ben Durant ended the night 7 saves. The Warriors return to action Thursday September 6th when they hit the road to play new section foe McGuffey.
