Warriors Open Season with Convincing Win

In their first game of the season, the varsity boys’ soccer team defeated the South Allegheny Gladiators with a score of 9 to 2. As the game began, senior Zack Snyder started their great game off with a goal from a deflection by the goalie. Shortly after, junior Andrew Smith scored another goal, giving the Warriors an even further lead. Junior Donovan Woytsek scored two goals back to back which were then followed by a goal by sophomore Max Salankiewicz. The Warriors continued to power through the first half of the game, leading to a third goal for Donovan Woytsek. To finish out the first half, sophomore Ethan Bowser scored a goal, making the score at halftime 7 to 0 in the Warriors’ favor.

As the second half of the game began, shots on goal were quickly taken by sophomores Eli Barowich and Adam Stefl and Freshman Dakota Woytsek. Two nearly consecutive goals were scored by freshman Brandon Johnson, finishing off the Warriors’ goals for the game. Between goalies Austin Onofrey, Logan Cherepko, and Ethan Callaghan, over 17 shots on goal from South Allegheny were saved. After an exciting second half, the final score ended up Elizabeth Forward: 9, South Allegheny: 2. So far, the varsity boys’ soccer team seems to be set up for an extremely successful season!
